Aluminium facade for flagship leisure centre

Aluminium facade for flagship leisure centre

Aliva UK has put a shimmering aluminium façade on a brand new flagship leisure centre in Oldham town centre. Aliva, the UK leader in exterior and interior finishes crafted a façade that defies the elements and remains stunning 24:7 – utilising 2,500sqm of aluminium in a ‘random’ pattern of three anodised finishes: two etched and one mirrored.

Developer Willmott Dixon and sub-contractor Range Roofing recommended Aliva UK’s Alucovering to GT Architects for the building. The leisure centre is the first in a series of projects as part of the town’s £100m redevelopment scheme, including a cinema in the old town hall and an independent quarter for local businesses.

Nigel Fraser, Principal Regeneration Officer at Oldham Council, said: “The aluminium fully met the Council’s expectations for the facade. The finish picks up changes in lighting conditions throughout the day, and the reflections generated by the setting sun are particularly dramatic".

Aliva’s Alucovering is a popular choice for architects as it is versatile enough for the most stunning and inventive designs. It is also highly sustainable. Seventy-five per cent of all aluminium ever produced is still in use and recycling rates for architectural aluminium are between 92%-98%.
