Client: Asda store, Dalgety Bay, Fife.
Contractor: J. W. Muir Group
Type of works: contracted to install 3m high Betta absorptive acoustic barrier.

The Betta Group have won a contract with Muir Construction to supply and install a 3m high Betta absorptive acoustic barrier. The noise barrier was chosen to help reduce noise nuisance from lorries using the unloading bays to a new Asda Store at Dalgety Bay. The Betta absorptive acoustic barrier has been given a sound insulation rate of 26dB and classified as category B3 in accordance with BS EN 1793-2:1998 and 20dB sound absorption, category A4, in accordance with BS EN 1793-1:1998.

The Betta absorptive noise barrier has a variety of finishes and the preference on this contract was galvanised and powder coated posts, timber pressure treated Tanalith E Brown, vertical timber backing to the rear face and a 17 P.A.R chamfered timber trim per bay to the absorptive face. The timber trims soften the absorptive face, yet in combination with the fine weldmesh offer a very tough and hard-wearing industrial finish. The photograph shows a typical 17 timber trim finish.
