Hayes Cottage Renal Dialysis Unit, Middlesex.
Client: John Fordham
Contractor: Wernick Buildings
Type of works: Wernick designed and project managed the installation of a two storey, 824m², 24-station dialysis unit.
When John Fordham, owner of Hayes Cottage Hospital in Middlesex, was contacted by Hammersmith Hospitals Renal Department asking if he was interested in building a renal dialysis unit on site, they were convinced that Wernick Buildings were the right people to design and build the unit.
Externally, the building had to comply with the requirements of the local councils conservation department.
Internally, the design had to meet with the NHSs strict guidelines, as specified in the latest Hospital Building Notes, as well as Johns vision of a user-friendly, open-plan design.
Wernicks building package is comprehensive. For its client there is just one point of contact. The company handles everything, from feasibility studies, design and planning approvals, right through to delivery and on-site finishing.
The 37 factory-built modules that comprise the two-storey, 829m², 24-station dialysis unit were delivered and craned into position over four days. Fitting out took just 8 weeks.
John considers the end result to be: brilliant. The internal finish is vitally important in this environment and Wernick have achieved a look that is aesthetically pleasing, efficient in use and easy to keep medically clean.
