Hunter Douglas wood ceiling offers more relaxed ambience

The recent fit out of the new PWC headquarters on the More London complex on the South Bank of the river Thames, has included the specification of a solid wood grill ceiling from Hunter Douglas.

Designed by BDP and fitted by Integra Concepts and BPC, the brief from PWC was to create a softer less formal environment throughout the office by delineating the finish between the working office and meeting rooms and the corridor and leisure areas. Hunter Douglas helped to achieve this more relaxed ambience with the supply of over 1400 m2 of prime “Quercus Robur” FSC European Oak solid wood grill slats to the ceiling areas of the rest and leisure rooms, corridors and certain meeting areas.

The Hunter Douglas wood grill system specified at PWC achieved a class 0 fire classification and comprised of 100mm deep wood panels spaced at 115mm centres. The system is fixed to a carrier system that offers straight or curved finishes dependant on the design criteria. Solid wood ceilings are particularly suitable where a high degree of acoustic control is required and with a range of over 20 wood species including Ash, Walnut, Pine, Larch, Teak, Cedar and Maple, provide the designer with a myriad of design options for the interior finish of a building’s ceiling.
