A ManSafe® horizontal cable based fall protection system has been specified for the summit building at Mount Snowdon. The building is designed with a series of perimeter gutters which need regular cleaning and maintenance checks. To ensure these checks can be carried out regularly and safely, a fall protection system was required. Furthermore, due to the location of the building, the Snowdonia National Park
Authority required a system that would be able to endure winds of up to 150 mph (twice hurricane force), over 5 m of rain annually and temperatures of well over -20°C!
Following a full site inspection, EuroSafe Solutions Ltdone of Latchways registered installersspecified a ManSafe® horizontal cable-based fall protection system to be used in conjunction with a Latchways Personal Rescue Device®. When used in conjunction with a Latchways Transfastener the cable system offers up to a maximum of 2 users a hands-free fall protection solution to undertake the ongoing maintenance tasks that the building requires. Affixed to structural stainless steel support posts, the potential fall arrest loads are managed through the inclusion of H-Xtenda shock absorbers in the systemdesigned to ensure end loads are controlled to beneath 19KN.
