Metalcraft were awarded a contract by IN-EX Landscapes to manufacture, deliver and fit 700m of contemporary balustrading around City Island – a new development by Ballymore Homes.
The balustrade was located around the perimeter of a peninsular on the river wall.
The design consisted of a stainless steel satin polished handrail supported on wet sprayed mild steel laser cut flat profile posts. The posts were then bolted to the to the river wall via specially manufactured first fix brackets. The balustrade infill was made up of 12 horizontal stainless steel wires, each one strained between the posts.
The layout of the site posed many challenges with numerous changes in direction. Metalcraft designers overcame this problem by designing geometrically complex corner posts to facilitate the change of direction. There were also changes of level which required the balustrade to be specially manufactured to accommodate the levels.
The result speaks for itself and Metalcraft is proud to have produced an interesting, complex, and aesthetically pleasing piece of metalwork.
