Althon have been manufacturing headwalls since 1981 and have the largest range available in the UK. This includes SFA headwalls that meet Sewers for Adoption 7th Edition guidelines, for drainage outfalls that are to be adopted by the local Water Authority and comply with the Water Industry Regulations 2011. Rectangular precast outfalls that conform to Severn Trent Water specifications and angled headwalls that meet the Environment Agency’s ‘Standard rules SR2015 No 27’.
All Althon headwalls can be factory fitted with accessories such as outfall safety grilles, Kee Klamp® handrails, flap valves and penstocks. We are also able to provide additional precast elements, such as diffuser blocks, stepped baffle blocks, extended spillways with cascade panels and in some instance’s precast steps. We are happy to help design a precast concrete outfall & spillway to your site-specific requirements.
Standard Headwall Range
Althon standard headwall range are fast and easy to installation and can be factory fitted with multiple accessories such as outfall safety grilles, Kee Klamp® handrails, flap valves and penstocks. The Standard Headwall Range can accommodate pipework up to 2100mm ID.
All of our headwalls are precast in controlled factory conditions. We can manufacture our headwalls with multiple pipe openings and site-specific invert levels and openings if required.
Sewers for Adoption (SFA) Headwalls
Althon Sewers for Adoption precast headwalls should be used when part of a Section 104 Agreement and the sewers are to be adopted once completed by the local Water Company. The materials used and installation must comply with the ‘Sewers for Adoption’ guidelines. Althon precast concrete outfalls offer a cost effective alternative to in-situ structures for connecting pipework discharging into open watercourses.
The Sewers for Adoption headwalls can accommodate pipework up to 1500mm ID and can be supplied with three depths of toe and either 300mm or 500mm thick. We cast fixing points in at the time of manufacture to accommodate Sewers for Adoption compliant outfall safety grilles, Kee Klamp® handrails and flow and depth monitoring equipment.
Angled Headwalls
Althon angled headwalls allow pipework entering a watercourse at an angle to be accommodated or for an outfall to be situated on a bend in a river. The angled headwall range can accommodate pipework up to 900mm ID. We cast the openings in our headwalls to suit your pipe diameter and material. We will also set the invert level of the pipe into the concrete headwall to your specification if required. We can also cast in multiple pipe openings if required and pre fit accessories such as Kee Klamp® handrails, gratings, flap valves, penstocks and other flow control devices.
